NetAudio is designed primarily to discover and control compatible network-audio devices on your local network. The iOS app does not require an account, include advertising, use cross-app tracking, or include third-party analytics or advertising software development kits.
The NetAudio iOS app never collects or uses audio content. It exchanges device-control messages and metadata, not audio streams.
Information discovered from your audio devices stays on your device and local network unless you deliberately submit feedback that includes it. Feedback submission is optional.
Local network access
With your permission, NetAudio uses Bonjour, multicast, and direct network connections to discover, inspect, and control compatible devices and user-selected netaudio daemons on your local network. The app may process device names and identifiers, model and manufacturer information, IP and MAC addresses, firmware and software versions, network-interface settings, channel names, routing and subscription state, clock and sample-rate state, metering information, and command responses.
This local-network information is used to provide the app's device-control features. It is not automatically transmitted to NetAudio's internet services. If you configure a daemon, the app communicates with that daemon at the address you select. Current daemon connections use unencrypted HTTP and server-sent events on the local network, so daemon traffic can be visible to other parties with access to that network. A daemon is part of your own network environment and is not operated by NetAudio unless explicitly identified otherwise.
Dante Domain Manager
Dante Domain Manager (DDM) usernames, passwords, API keys, hostnames, IP addresses, and MAC addresses are kept on your device and used only for your configured DDM connection. They are not sent to NetAudio's services or shared with NetAudio or its service providers. Credentials are used only to authenticate with the DDM server you configure.
DDM credentials, hostnames, IP addresses, and MAC addresses are excluded from all app-generated diagnostic reports and feedback attachments. This exclusion applies at every privacy level, including Full, and when recent activity or exact device responses are included. Do not paste credentials or private DDM connection details into free-form feedback or email.
Information stored on your device
NetAudio stores information locally to operate the app, preserve your choices, and support troubleshooting. This includes app settings and selected daemon information; a cache of discovered devices and routing metadata; presets in Application Support; up to 500 recent activity entries; feedback drafts that can contain your text and device context; App Attest key identifiers; notification preferences; and device lock keys stored in the iOS Keychain using the ThisDeviceOnly accessibility class.
NetAudio can index device names, model and manufacturer details, IP and MAC addresses, status, and configuration information in Core Spotlight so the devices appear in iOS search. If you enable notifications, device names, routes, channel information, sample-rate information, and related events may appear in iOS Notification Center. Apple provides and controls these operating-system features.
Temporary protocol captures are held in memory with limits of 1,000 entries and 16 MiB. Exported diagnostic files may be written to temporary storage when you ask to share them. Presets and other files you save or export remain under your control. Feedback drafts remain until cleared or successfully submitted. Presets have in-app deletion controls; cached, temporary, Spotlight, Keychain, backup, and exported information may follow separate iOS retention behavior. Deleting the app removes its ordinary app container, but may not remove information already exported, shared, backed up, indexed, displayed in notifications, or retained in the Keychain or another Apple service.
Feedback and support
When you press Submit Feedback, NetAudio sends the information you entered, including the feedback category, title, message, affected-device label, and any reproduction, expected-result, or actual-result details you provided. The submission also includes app and device metadata needed for support: app identifier, app version, build, source revision when available, platform, iOS version, and hardware model.
For app issues and device-compatibility reports, you can choose whether to attach diagnostic context and select a Redacted, Standard, or Full privacy level. When feedback is started for a specific device, the current screen initially enables diagnostics, Full privacy level, recent activity, and exact device responses. Depending on those choices, a report may include device names, models, manufacturers, firmware and software versions, channel and routing names, configuration and status information, recent in-app activity, errors, control path, device identifiers, IP addresses, MAC addresses, and exact device-response payloads. Exact payloads are unredacted and may contain any information returned by the affected device. The structured diagnostic report is designed to exclude device lock keys and notification contents.
The feedback screen provides controls to omit diagnostics, omit recent activity, omit exact device responses, or reduce the diagnostic privacy level before submission. NetAudio does not upload this diagnostic information merely because it was generated or viewed.
The diagnostic privacy level does not make the entire submission anonymous. At every level, NetAudio still sends the text you entered, the affected-device label and top-level device context, app and device metadata, and the App Attest key identifier. Redacted and Standard modes primarily reduce information within the attached diagnostics.
The feedback service retains the complete signed JSON submission, including additional fields supplied by the app, rather than extracting only a fixed list of fields.
Feedback submissions use Apple's App Attest service to verify that they came from a genuine instance of the app. NetAudio's server retains an App Attest key identifier, public key, environment, and assertion counter for integrity, abuse prevention, and future feedback verification. Apple processes attestation information under its own privacy terms.
The in-app feedback form has no account or dedicated contact-information field. NetAudio cannot respond to an in-app report unless you include contact information in your message or contact us separately by email.
If you contact us by email, we receive the address you used, your message, attachments, and ordinary email metadata. Email for netaudio.app is hosted by Apple's iCloud Mail service.
Automatic request information
If you choose a Light or Dark website theme, the website saves that preference in your browser's local storage. It is not sent to NetAudio's servers. Choosing System removes the saved preference and follows your device's appearance setting.
When you visit a NetAudio website or use the internet feedback service, Cloudflare and the NetAudio server automatically receive standard request information. This can include your IP address, country derived from your IP address, request date and time, complete requested hostname, path, and query string, request method, user agent, request headers, response status and size, request timing, and security or rate-limit information. Feedback-service headers can include the pseudonymous App Attest key identifier and assertion. Request bodies are not written to the Caddy access log.
IP addresses are used to protect the feedback service and rate-limit registration and challenge requests. Short-lived IP-based rate-limit records expire after approximately one hour. NetAudio's server access logs are configured for a maximum retention period of approximately two weeks and may rotate earlier because of storage limits. Cloudflare may retain ordinary request and security information according to its own policies.
Cloudflare enables Network Error Logging, which allows supported browsers to send network-failure reports to a Cloudflare endpoint. NetAudio does not use this service for advertising or cross-site tracking and does not intentionally set first-party tracking cookies. More information is available in Cloudflare's Network Error Logging documentation and privacy policy.
TestFlight
If you install a beta through TestFlight or submit feedback through TestFlight, Apple may process crash information, screenshots, comments, device information, and related beta diagnostics and may make selected information available to the developer. Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's privacy policy and TestFlight terms.
How information is used
NetAudio uses information only as needed to:
- provide local device discovery, monitoring, configuration, routing, and related app features;
- save the choices and content you ask the app to retain locally;
- receive, investigate, and respond to feedback or support requests;
- improve compatibility, reliability, security, and app behavior based on submitted reports;
- verify genuine app instances, prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and protect the feedback service; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect users, systems, and rights.
NetAudio does not sell or rent personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Service providers and disclosure
Information is disclosed only when needed to operate the services, comply with law, or protect users and systems:
- Apple provides iOS, App Attest, App Store, TestFlight, iCloud Mail, device backup, and related platform services.
- Cloudflare provides authoritative DNS, HTTPS edge protection, request transport, security services, and Network Error Logging for the NetAudio domains and feedback endpoint.
- Legal and safety disclosures may occur when reasonably necessary to comply with valid legal process, enforce rights, investigate abuse, or protect a person or system.
NetAudio does not authorize service providers to use submitted information for their own advertising. To the extent they process information on NetAudio's behalf, they are required to provide the same or equivalent protection described in this policy and required by applicable law. Their processing is also governed by their respective privacy policies and legal obligations.
Security and storage
Public feedback requests first reach Cloudflare's HTTPS edge. Cloudflare and the NetAudio backend process the request in plaintext as needed to transport, decompress, parse, and verify it. After verification, the complete feedback payload is encrypted at rest using public-key sealed-box encryption. The running feedback service does not possess the private decryption key. The encrypted report is stored with plaintext operational metadata including its reference, App Attest key identifier, creation time, payload size, and storage path. Report files and associated records are stored on access-restricted infrastructure in the United States.
No system can guarantee absolute security. Avoid including information in free-form feedback or raw device responses that is not needed to diagnose the issue.
Retention and deletion
Local information remains on your device until the app clears it, you use an available deletion control, iOS removes temporary or cached data, or you delete the app. Files you export remain wherever you saved or shared them.
Feedback reports and their associated App Attest registration records are retained while needed to investigate reports, maintain support and security records, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. There is currently no fixed automatic deletion schedule for submitted feedback or App Attest registration records, so they may remain until manually deleted. Operational logs and temporary rate-limit records follow the shorter periods described above.
You may request access to or deletion of a submitted feedback report by emailing support@netaudio.app. Include the approximate submission time and enough information to locate the report. Because NetAudio does not require an account and the in-app form has no dedicated contact-information field, we may be unable to identify a report or verify that it belongs to you.
Your choices and rights
You can decline local-network permission, although the app's principal discovery and control features will not work. You can choose not to submit feedback, remove optional diagnostic attachments, select a more restrictive diagnostic privacy level, clear locally stored drafts where the app provides that control, and delete the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise a request. NetAudio does not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Children
NetAudio is a technical network-audio control application and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child submitted personal information so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
International processing
NetAudio is operated from the United States. If you use the internet feedback service from another country, submitted information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app, services, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated when a revised policy is published. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate app, website, or release notice when required.
